Jobs and the Economy With the lessons from his childhood on the difficulties small businesses face, Russell Fry knows how to create jobs, meet a budget, and make a payroll. He also knows that government often gets in the way of success. That’s why, as our next Representative, Russell will fight to end the burdensome regulations that handicap our small businesses and stifle economic growth. By eliminating red tape and bureaucracy, the power of the individual can be unleashed, businesses can hire more people, and we can grow our middle class and make the American Dream achievable for more South Carolinians than ever.
Infrastructure Development For any area, a strong infrastructure is key to attracting industry and growing the local economy. From the Port of Georgetown to our local highways, Russell understands that bringing our roads, bridges, tunnels, and ports to a competitive level with neighboring states presents a monumental challenge in South Carolina but also a great opportunity.
Russell sees infrastructure as a core function of government and one that needs to be placed higher on the priority list. Under Russell’s plan, wasteful spending will be eliminated and redirected to infrastructure needs and local governments will gain greater control of existing highways giving them the ability to prioritize road funding.
He also believes that there is huge opportunity to work more effectively with local and national officials, which makes government more accountable and efficient with your tax dollars. Russell understands that with sound infrastructure in South Carolina, the economic climate will improve dramatically for all South Carolinians.
Public Safety Public Safety is one of the few core functions of government and one that is vital for South Carolina and the South Strand. With a brother serving our community at Horry County Fire & Rescue and many friends who are law enforcement officers, Russell understands the need for improved public safety and is acutely aware of the strains placed on our first responders. From working with local officials to improve cooperation to adequately funding our law enforcement personnel, Russell views public safety improvement as an important step to making South Carolina a better place to live, work, and raise a family and will champion that cause in Columbia.
Education Russell Fry’s childhood home had no heat or air-conditioning. His parents struggled to make ends meet. Having grown up with humble beginnings, Russell knows firsthand the power of hard work and a good education. As a small business owner, Russell recognizes that the future of our economy relies on a strong, robust, and well educated workforce capable of meeting the demands of business and industry.
That’s why Russell Fry will fight to individualize education to the needs of every child and empower parents with more choices. By eliminating bureaucratic control over our children's education, allowing money to follow the child to an educational environment of their parents choosing, and opposing any attempt by the federal government to control education, Russell will be a strong voice for conservative education reform and a champion of real school choice.
Tax Reform As a lifelong conservative and the former Horry County Republican Party Executive Committeeman, Russell has long worked to elect leaders who understand that the people who spend money best are the people who earn it, not politicians in Columbia or inside the beltway. That’s why Russell is dedicated to lowering the tax burden for all South Carolinians – families, individuals, seniors, and small business owners.
As our next Representative, Russell will fight for a smaller, fairer, and simpler tax system that keeps more money in the pockets of the people who earn it, one that allows businesses to invest more of their capital and hire more workers, and one that leads to an improved economy and more job creation.
Eliminate Wasteful Spending Waste and efficiencies are deadly for our small businesses, household budgets, and personal finances. Unfortunately, they are the hallmarks of our government. As a small business owner, Russell knows that throwing more money at a problem is rarely the best solution. That’s why as your next Representative, Russell’s top priority will to hold government accountable to the taxpayer. Surfside and the South Strand need an active voice in Columbia promoting fiscal discipline. If families can adhere to a budget, why can’t government?
